“The Zagora Archaeological Project: Research Results and Questions in the 21st Century.”

Lesley Beaumont holds a BA(Hons) in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in Classical Archaeology from University College London. Between 1995 and 2000 she was Assistant Director of the British School at Athens, before joining the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sydney.
Her research focuses on three major areas: the iconography, archaeology and social history of childhood in ancient Greece; the archaeology of Chios and the East Greek world in the first millennium BC; and investigation of the Early Iron Age Cycladic settlement at Zagora on Andros. Between 1997 and 2011 she co-directed field research with Aglaia Archontidou-Argyri at Kato Phana on Chios, and since 2012 she has co-directed fieldwork at Zagora with her Sydney colleagues Meg Miller, Stavros Paspalas and Paul Donnelly.
